Can you tell me more about John Hancock's policy on sharing customer information for marketing purposes?
The John Hancock company that you have a relationship with may share your information with its affiliated companies so they can contact you with offers about their products and services. However, before John Hancock shares customer information within our affiliated companies, the customer must first be given an opportunity to "opt out." If the customer does not opt out, the company may share certain customer information for marketing purposes.
Are all John Hancock customers given an opportunity to 'opt out'?
All customers who receive a Customer Privacy Notice are given the opportunity to opt out. There are, however, some customers who do not receive a Customer Privacy Notice, for example, group plan participants (with the exception of OnTarget groups) and 529 plan owners. These customers are not required to opt out since John Hancock will not share their information with affiliated companies for marketing purposes.
